DJ KMP

Growing up in the early years of hip-hop, back when the art of djing was still being developed, a young and impressionable boy named DJ KMP was exposed to the art of turntablism. From that point on, a seed was implanted in KMP that grew into an obsession with all things relating to djing. According to KMP, one event changed his view and perspective of DJ’s, and that was when he saw the World Supremacy Battle between DJ Joe Cooley vs. DJ Cash Money. This one event really influenced him to take his passion of dee jaying seriously.
As time progressed, so did DJ KMP’s skills and knowledge of his art form. Soon he was not only a DJ, but he added producer to his title. For KMP there was not enough time in the day to do all the things he wanted; producing and dee jaying kept him a very busy and sought after person. By the early nineties, KMP had already mastered such tools of production as the SP1200, MPC60, and finally the MPC3000. KMP later moved on to become a Pro Tools engineer working with computer based programs such as Native Instruments Maschine, Komplete & Traktor, Scratch Live Serato, Logic 9 and Reason 6 to name a few.
By the mid-nineties, KMP was signed to Perspective A&M records along with his group the Black Spooks. The Black Spooks consisted of Sly Boogy, Dirty Birdy and DJ KMP. Although the group was locally successful, they were not given a chance to reach their full potential. KMP and his group left after 2 years with the label. This early experience was used a platform for future ventures.
By this time, DJ KMP was fully established as one of the premiere DJ’s in the Hollywood and Orange County circuits, not to mention south of the border in the Coachella and Imperial Valley’s. Having DJ'd at all the hot clubs in the area, DJ KMP has also deejayed countless celebrity parties and events with artist involvement such as Lil Jon, Warren G, Xzibit, Baby Bash, DJ Quik, Mack 10, E-40, Alicia Keys, Wyclef Jean, Busta Rhymes, Omarion, Too Short, Pitbull, B5, Talib Kweli, Mack 10, Digital Underground, Planet Asia, Snoop Dogg, Travis Barker, Wu Tang Clan, Chamillionaire, Ice Cube and more.
Currently, DJ KMP is a mixshow DJ on 93.5 KDAY in Los Angeles, CA where he can be heard every Friday evening from 7-9pm. You can also catch DJ KMP on tour with E-40, as he is his Official Tour DJ.
